I have never run across a story like this before, and thought I'd pass it
along. Kinda scary! The link includes video of the destruction.


Phone lines get crossed with power lines in North Dakota, sending
high-voltage surging through phone system, into homes and businesses. The
result? Several "small fires" are started. Substation nearly destroyed.
The entire town's phone service is shut down. Telephones and computers
left "smoking", melted or "electrocuted". Residents asked to check for
damage by sensing if phones are "hot to the touch". No joke!
