Lets all weigh into the issue about opening up the CASF funds to wireless service providers who are not registered with CPUC as telephone service providers.  To do this I encourage you to submit comment(s) to the CPUC request-for-comment posting (http://docs.cpuc.ca.gov/efile/PD/102215.pdf), that endorses the CASF policy change that removes CPCN and WIR requirement.  This means any broadband service provider could apply.  One the telecoms have weighed in at this point and they think it is a bad idea for this pot of money to be opened up to anyone not registered as a telephone service provider.

The window for comment acceptance ends JUNE 29 2009.

Keep in mind that you can send comments talking about how important WISPs are to rural broadband deployment and how much you support all efforts to increase capital availability for those effort (without directly referencing the emergency legislation) if lobbying is an issue for your organization.  Hearing from individuals is also important.  Le me know if you have questions.
