Just a reminder that we're holding two meetings tomorrow (Thursday) regarding broadband funding. See details below.
Best,
Daria
Dear Listserv Members,
There has been a lot of talk lately, both on this listserv and in other forums, about broadband projects and stimulus funding. As many of you know, there is already work underway to be sure our area is ready to apply for funding. The RTC is looking for public comments on this topic and will be hosting an open meeting on June 25th at 6 pm at the Humboldt County Office of Education, Sequoia Room A.
This meeting immediately follows an RTC member-only closed session to gather inupt on what RTC’s role should be in the coming months. If you are a member, either as an individual or as part of a member organization, please feel free to also attend this meeting at 5 pm. In the interest of ensuring enough space for everyone, we are restricting each member organization to four people. The member roster is on the RTC website at http://redwoodtech.org. Not a member? It's not too late to join for the year!
The Redwood Technology Consortium favors ubiquitous (and redundant) broadband for the North Coast. We believe that widely available, affordable, and reliable broadband is vital to the health and well-being of the area’s economy and to the civic lives of the area’s residents.
While the RTC does not advocate for specific proposals or projects, we recognize the importance of fostering a competitive, transparent, and publicly debated process. Further, we support open access, which encourages competition among Internet providers so that residents and businesses get the best services possible at competitive prices.
I hope to see you on June 25th.
Best regards,
Daria Topousis
for the RTC Board
