Folks following US communications/broadband media policy will be
interested in significant announcements yesterday from FCC's Acting
Chair:

Most notable for Broadband Media interests -

Blair Levin is taking another turn at the FCC.

Levin, who was chief of staff under Chairman Reed Hundt during the
Clinton administration, is returning to the agency to help develop a
national broadband plan, Acting FCC Chairman Michael Copps announced.

For the past several years, Levin has worked as a telecommunications
analyst at Stifel Nicolaus, an investment banking and brokerage firm.
There, he co-authors a popular e-newsletter commenting on
telecommunications policy.

In another key move, Copps removed Monica Shah Desai as chief of the
Media Bureau, which oversee broadcasting and cable regulations, and
replaced her with FCC veteran Robert Ratcliffe on an acting basis.

Desai was reassigned to the Office of General Counsel.
