Michael,
I'm pretty happy with Verizon...may have to eat the costs of the lost phone
and charges, but they do have a better signal..I've used US Cellular in the
past and the seemed to have the best signal for me, but their phones are not
always current...
Good luck
Bob

Subject: [RTC List] Wireless advice

Is the takeover of North American wireless by AT&T a fait accompli, or are
there other viable options out there for Humboldters that travel the U.S.? I
was just about resigned to ATT, but I thought I would put this out there.

I hate ATT, but do I have any other reasonable choices? They bought out my
company (Edge Wireless) and are closing it down this spring, and now they
are offering me a worse national plan at higher costs and are insisting that
our 5 gsm phones on our plan will need to be replaced. (BTW, we were forced
to buy those phones awhile back after ATT started buying into Edge, and they
switched mobile comm standards.)

Who else? I need good local coverage a little north and east of
McKinleyville, and good national service, mostly in Sacramento and
occasionally NYC.

"We don't care, we don't have to...we're the phone company." Ernestine
