[RTC List] OTA Antennas - HD and SD local broadcasts

I have found only powered Digital antennas work very well. They recieve both digital and analog signal but have seperate connections and require a seperate connection for each on your television, cable or satellite box. I get pretty good reception in Eureka E&14th area but the channels seem unreliable meaning they do not consistently broadcast but the quality is better. Keep in mind digital does not normally mean HD in our area. I will send the two models i have used and my experience when i get back in tow. The one i am using right now works very well connected through my Satellite reciever but less well when connected to my tv which leads me to believe the tuner has some piece of the problem also. My experience is only end user based as i have no equipment to qauntify it. I do get a variety of channels i do not get in Analog signal. Good luck with that-
As you know Chan 6 transferred over early (to 17) and I did some experimenting to find that the digital signal seemed much harder to receive.
Maybe it was just my location (burre center).
It would be nice to know what have others found?

Folks,

As the digital conversion is “still” upon us (even though the conversion date has now been pushed back), I have an interesting question that I hope the RTC group can help with, as follows:

§ Are there any local vendors that can both recommend and install OTA antennas to receive local feeds of both SD and HD broadcasts?

I live in the Cutten area and would like to simply get the local channels over the air.

Thanks in advance for your time and replies,

Fred

PS – While researching this, I came across in interesting collection of sites to determine what can and can’t be received within our area:

Start at this site, and enter your full address; the site calculates your precise latitude and longitude. Jot down the decimal values and be sure to note direction (North or South for latitude, East or West for longitude). Then, go to this page and enter your latitude and longitude values to determine your magnetic declination. Now comes the fun part: Point your browser to the payoff page and enter your latitude, longitude, and declination values. Then, just plug in an appropriate distance range (no more than 80 miles), and view your results. You can choose to have the stations organized by their distance or direction in relation to your address, or by channel.
