[RTC List] Suddenlink performance the last 5 days

Winter,
If the timeouts begin somewhere beyond Suddenlink, it would seem as the
problem is with their underlying provider or perhaps somewhere upstream
from them. If you'd like to post a traceroute copy, I'm sure that there
are plenty of people on the list who could interpret it.
As for AT&T, they most certainly do own all of the fiber that goes in/out
of Humboldt County. However, as a licensed public utility, AT&T can not
legally refuse to sell capacity to Suddenlink if it has it available (it
does). That type of discrimination would land them in court really fast. I
don't believe that AT&T is anywhere near capacity right now, as I've never
had a single carrier or reseller tell me that they couldn't sell me
service here due to capacity issues. That happened routinely before the
current fiber route was installed. Any Joe Blow with $400-$500 a month to
spend can buy a T1 around here with no problem whatsoever. If I can buy
capacity that easily, there's no reason why Suddenlink shouldn't be able
to.
