Lets start with where I agree... I totally agree that no one should go
beyond a "reasonably generous limit". Now I define that as somewhere
beyond what they said they would deliver to me. I think it's
"reasonably generous" of me NOT to use that bandwidth at the full
capacity 24/7. I think it's UNREASONABLE of them to tell me I have X
bandwidth for Y dollars and then say I shouldn't be using X (in the case
of comcast they don't even have a way for you to check how much you've
used...). This isn't water rights people. This is bandwidth and they
should have allocated enough of it to keep their contractual
negotiations, in other words they shouldn't OVERSELL.
But none of this is the real issue. This is about managed content.
It's about putting you back into *their* silos. Look to
Hulu,Skype,Youtube, NetFlix "on demand" and the like; if you want to
know what this is really about. Don't fall for this line.
