[RTC List] local hosts - Why are we held hostage?

Larry,
While it is not much in favor, don't forget satellite access.
None of the local/national providers are willing/able to bring
a line up our road (1/4 mile from a suddenlink system), so we
have been using satellite (Wildblue/AT&T) for a couple of years now.
(just tested at 600kbs down, 105kbs up). Around $80 a month for their
highest speed rating (1mb)
Not great, but better than dial-up or ISDN.
We have been able to keep on running when SuddenLink is down,
so it isn't all bad.
We routinely support our clients using GoToMeeting and upload/download
50mb files on a regular basis.
Our other site at Petaluma uses Comcast (16MB Burst) and there is NO
comparison,
but the Eureka site has a better view :)
Thanks,
Bob
