[RTC List] 2008 Solar Neighbors Tour

I wish to inform RTC of the upcoming Annual  Humboldt-Solar-Neighbors-Tour, to be held on October 4, 2008.

For those unfamiliar with the tour, there will be homes and businesses that have agreed to make their properties available to tour-goers to view and learn about the various alternate-energy solutions.

The Humboldt tour is on the same day as the national tour which is sponsored by the American Solar Energy Society, www.ases.org 

Our tour, as usual, is being organized, and sponsored, by local people who have a strong commitment to alternate-energy solutions,and the Redwood-Coast-Energy-Authority is acting as a focal point for the effort. Tour guides and maps will be available to tour-goers.

One question I have heard many times, and one that I had myself was "Does Solar Work in Humboldt?"
 
I can now personally answer that it does.  I have had a grid-tied, net-metered, PV system at my home for almost 2 years and my total electrical-energy-consumption for last year was $65.00.
